Wenjian Liu

Wenjian Liu was born in Shangrao, Jiangxi Province, China. He received his Master’s degree in Materials Science and Engineering in 2017, and his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2015, both from Tsinghua University, Beijing, China. During his two years as a graduate student at Tsinghua, he demonstrated the first room-temperature single-phase amorphous magnetic semiconductor as well as hybrid p-n junctions based on such materials, which is chronicled in a Nature Communications article in 2016. In Fall 2017, he joined Prof. Banerjee’s research group at the University of California, Santa Barbara, to pursue his PhD degree. His current research is at the intersection of 2D materials and spintronics.
