Jiahao Kang

Jiahao Kang was born in Suihua, Heilongjiang Province, China. He received his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Microelectronics from the Department of Microelectronics and Nanoelectronics, Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, in 2010.  He joined NRL at the University of California, Santa Barbara in Fall 2010 and obtained his Master of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering in 2013. His Ph.D. research under the supervision of Prof. Kaustav Banerjee was focused on two-dimensional (2D) electronic materials, starting from in-depth understanding of the physics of various metal contacts, dopants and dielectric interfaces involving 2D materials, to device design for obtaining optimal performances and finally to experimental demonstration of highly efficient electronic devices on 2D materials, as well as other unique applications enabled by these materials. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Summer 2017. 

His doctoral research was recognized with the IEEE EDS PhD Student Fellowship in 2016 and UCSB's Lancaster Dissertation Award in Mathematics, Physical Sciences and Engineering in 2018.
